Once in a Blue Moon - 29 Jun 2009 - Flickr

Highest position in Explore # 1 on 29th June'09 I am yet not done with Central Business District photoshoot. It was extremely clear day and got full moon in my frame that too in blue hour!! You can still see light orange tinge in the sky as sun just set down the horizon. Another shot of similar taste taken on a different day Romantic Boat Quay This is neither tonemapped or HDRed. For reflection and smoothness in water it was 30 secs exposure by using ND8 filter and for buildings it was 10 secs exposure. Finally applied digital blending and tweaking curves in photoshop.

if only the world was as pure as this blue. i have been struck by the death of a legend. i can't believe he has passed away. Michael Jackson will forever live through his music. yesterday i woke up and looked outside my bedroom window. the sky was just amazing! i knew i had to go out and appreciate what it had to offer. on the down side, i think i took this picture when the sun was at it's full potential, in other words it was sizzling hot, but then again it's florida. im kinda sticking my tongue out if you look closely! haha :D haha, i just noticed these looked like tree tops, they're just basically tall weeds on an empty lot. and yeah, this is one picture, nothing added, for those wondering. if your interested in watching the before and after video watch it here oh, and thanks to baryalai for the testimonial! explore #1 and front page!! thank you guys! cotton in the the sky strobist info:sb-900 camera right sb-600 camera left bare

Half Dome Impressions #1 - Mirror Lake, Yosemite National Park, California - 27 Jun 2009 - Flickr

Here is a 30-second slice of the history of Yosemite's glacier-formed and weather eroded Half Dome. As I watched the clouds streak by, I could really imagine how this place was formed over the eons. Canon 5D Mark II Canon 17-40L @ 19 (very wide to get it all into the frame) 30-second exposure @F13 Hoya ndx-400 10-stop filter - Very dark for long exposures in daylight. 2 hours before sunset when the ligh tis still on the cliff face. LEE soft ND grads 0.9 + 0.75 Cokin z-pro filter holder No polarizer. I wanted reflections in the water ISO 100 (a higher ISO to keep it at 30sec-F13 where the lens is very sharp) RAW file processed with Capture One by Phase One TIFF file processed with Photoshop The clouds were moving quickly over the top of Half Dome, and the light looked good on the rock face. So I put on my dark filter to make a long exposure. Over the course of 30 seconds, the clouds moved a lot and the shadows of the clouds made for some good light across the face of the cliffs. And the moving trees and reflections softened in the reflected light from above. This part of The Tenaya River is called Mirror Lake because is is often calm and reflective. But the wind softened the light falling on the water. The long exposure shows that soft light much better than a shorter one which would show the frozen choppy water. Sometimes a long exposure feels more realistic than a shorter one! I do have some shots that are completely reflective when the wind calmed down. The effect is striking too. The map shows exactly where this is. It is a 1-mile hike from the nearest road. See my Flickr profile for a link to my newly designed website. .

They said someday you'll find All who love are blind Oh, when your heart's on fire You must realize Smoke gets in your eyes -The Platters #175/365 Well I decided I had to try one of these smoke shots. For the most part it is fairly simple. All you need is a flash and some incense. The tricky part is trying to get interesting shapes out of the smoke. The reference for the shot is from one of my favorite movies...Steven Spielberg's Always. It did not do well in the theater yet years later a similar (inferior) movie became a blockbuster (Ghost). Always was also Audrey Hepburn's last role (a cameo appearance as an angel). The main song in that movie was the classic "Smoke Get in your eyes) from the platters. Highest position in Explore # 1 & Featured at Explore Front Page on 23rd June'09 Must view in large After numerous attempts was able to get perfect symmetric shot as the this wonderful bird who kept on changing its position in a split second!! Fortunately I was having wide angle lens and lied on the ground just a feet away from the bird for getting this angle. Location was in Koh Rang Yai which is 15mins by speedboat from Phuket. Not much editing required other than cropping as its another example of perfect creation by mother nature. View Phuket set in Black Trivia Peacock is treated as royal bird in India and also India's national bird. People use to sell their feathers on high prices but thankfully this has stopped now.

#173/365 For Father's day my lovely wife made me a cake. This decadent deserves a better name, but after eating a big piece, I thought to myself "this can't be good for me". It was a 4 layer devil's food cake with dark chocolate strawberry ganach and straberry buttercream. I'm not one for chocolate but this was delicious.
